BIOGRAPHY

Anca Elena Jitariu (Gliga – after marriage) was born and raised in Gura Humorului (Bucovina region), Romania.

After her artistic debut at the Museum of Gura Humorului, she continued her studies in secular painting at the "Ciprian Porumbescu" Art High School in Suceava. In 2010, Anca completed her master's degree in mural art at the National University of Art in Bucharest.

The works in the artist's portfolio present varied themes and different techniques in oil and watercolor, addressing the human figure, landscape, but also abstract compositions. Her representative style is defined by the details of realism in the foreground, complemented by stylized backgrounds in the background.

Following her experience in secular, Byzantine painting and the application of various modern art techniques in plastic expression, her works have been included in over 20 exhibitions in the country and international artistic projects.

In 2016, Anca was invited to participate in the art exhibition 'Alzheimer's In the Frame' at the Elena Shchukina Gallery in London, followed by a charity event at The Alzheimer's Show, Olympia Center, UK, with the triptych 'Betty Schwartz' made in black and white oil colours. Today, the original work is exhibited at the BAT Foundation Museum in London.

In 2017, she exhibited her series of oil paintings 'Into the Rock' at the contemporary art festival 'Parallax Art Fair', held at Chelsea Town Hall, London.

In 2019, the artist participated in the modern art festival 'Walk of Art', organized in Zurich, following artistic performance selections through an international competition.

Currently, Anca lives in Cluj, where her personal studio is open to the art-loving public.

artist statement

Art has been a part of my family for the last three generations. My father, grandfather and great-grandfather were always passionate about painting and crafts. My father was the one who taught me to appreciate the beauty of a painting and more than that, he showed me how to express myself through techniques and practical studies in the fine arts, and then to sustain my own artistic style.
I experimented with different concepts and techniques in an attempt to define my own style. For a while, my desire and goal were only to create compositions with realistic and abstract elements either on canvas, wood or wall. Defining my own style was a difficult, soul-crushing stage, but it led me to a better artistic self-knowledge and confidence in choosing classic details alongside spontaneous and ample spots in portrait, landscape, still life and abstract composition.
At the beginning of my career as a plastic artist, I wanted to deepen the practical mastery of Byzantine painting, and this concern gave me the chance to work on church mural projects and dozens of wooden icons. Through these experiences of Byzantine practice, along with secular easel works, I was always honored to accept invitations to participate in various exhibitions, competitions and artistic projects, both in the country and abroad. One of the projects of my soul was the art exhibition 'Alzheimer's In the Frame' at the Elena Shchukina Gallery in London and later a charity event at The Alzheimer's Show, Olympia Center, UK with the oil triptych  'Betty Schwartz'  located today in the Foundation museum in London. I participated in the Parallax Art Fair in Chelsea Town Hall in London, Walk of Art organized in Zurich and Barcelona, Mixing Identities in Venice, Vision at Palazzo Albrizzi in Italy and  the International Festival of Contemporary Art 2023  in Rome. As of 2020, I am an affiliated artist at  Bickerton Grace Gallery  in London.
The predecessors who inspired my passion for artistic creation were examples for me in my concern for cultural society since childhood. Growing up with artistic principles and motivations, I opened an international art workshop, especially for artists,  collectors  and those passionate about free creation.  Art courses  are important to me, so out of the desire to be with those who need specialized or therapeutic guidance in this vast world of fine arts, I created a series of painting and graphic workshops for children and adults.

I recorded a podcast about how I fulfilled my childhood dream.
I hope my experience inspires those who follow me to follow their dreams and develop their creativity.
